Hi,
I’m here, you’re here… what more can we ask for? I’m looking forward to a busy but not crazy July — something I haven’t had in a few years. See you out there!
Upcoming performances are at the top, and you can scroll on for other announcements and what-not!
As always, thanks for supporting my work through this platform. It’s more important than ever to build communities on independent media sites regardless of the discipline or cultural circle in involves.
All my “content” is free to view, but there is a paid subscription option for super-fans as well!
Where am I playing next? Good question!
Here are some public performances you can check out this month. Keep in mind that my schedule is subject to change as other performances come up. To check for updates on gigs throughout the month, you can look at my calendar at wyattambrosemusic.com/calendar, follow me on instagram and facebook, or contact me directly at wyattambrosemusic@gmail.com.

What’s going on?
As musicians, we often work in cycles and phases, at the whim of whatever timeline a project requires. As for myself, I’m finding that this summer is somewhat of a lull or perhaps a transitional period for me. This time last year I was working hard on material for Up There, planning the new Killdeer Trio recording, as well as running around to various gigs and teaching commitments. Now I seem to be at the other end of this cycle with a bit more time on my hands than anticipated, catching my breath and considering my immediate next steps.
As for immediate, immediate next steps… I’ll be performing a few local gigs on the new Al Gallodoro Stage in Oneonta (more on that next month), returning to Jazz on Jay with Jeanine Ouderkirk, bringing Killdeer Trio back to Lark St. Tavern in Albany, and continuing to develop new duo material with my long-time collaborator Evan Jagels.
Hope to see you out there!
Jagels / Ambrose Duo
If you’ve read any of this newsletter, seen me perform in last 5 years, or checked out my discography, you have probably heard me mention my buddy Evan. We first met when Evan moved back to Oneonta from NYC right before I transferred to SUNY Purchase, and in the past half-decade have become close musical partners. Our first musical explorations were as a duo, and over the years we’ve continued to really enjoy that format. So much so, that we’ve decided to dedicate a bit more time and creative effort into developing it further.
Two weeks ago we played a live-streamed concert from JiveHiveLive in Albany, featuring a duo set from us and then some quartet music from saxophonist Jeremy Gold. The concert now lives at the JiveHive youtube channel, so feel free to check it out below. Our set is the first 28 minutes, and Jeremy picks up at about 34 minutes in.
Lessons
Although I like to think of myself as an artist/guitarist first and educator second, I’ve found over the years that teaching is something I feel very passionate about and devoted to. Not only is it satisfying to help students along in their musical journey, but I think it’s an important duty to the lineage of music in general. By helping musicians with both casual and professional goals, we help keep the art of and appreciation for great music alive. We pay our mentors back by paying it forward with our own students who will hopefully do the same.
So, if you or someone you know is interested in either in-person or remote lessons (guitar or just music), feel free to reach out/refer/etc. I’ve taught in multiple time zones over Zoom/facetime, and enjoy teaching dedicated students of all skill levels.

Youtube
Although my efforts are slow, I’m trying to get more of my music up on YouTube channel as opposed to the meta-verse. I just uploaded two videos—one from the concert of my live-recorded solo album, and a clip from the most recent soloists in the round concert. Check ‘em out, share, subscribe, and all that good stuff.
The End!
