Hey, welcome back!
Dear returning, new, and prospective subscribers: Welcome to my July 2024 newsletter!
I’ve got a lot of fun things happening this July, including the return of my improv workshop, and some shows with the usual suspects.
I understand our time together is precious. So, If you’re just here for the performance schedule, feel free to skip ahead. If not, read on!
To those of you checking out my substack for the first time:
Although Instagram and Facebook are good for short-notice announcements and some musical content, the algorithms make it hard to cut through ads/sponsored content, even if you follow me. Substack offers a convenient way to gives fans, friends, and family the opportunity to get in depth reports on what I’m up to, straight to your inbox. No ads or doom scrolling required! This way you can hear about upcoming gigs and other announcements once a month, all in one place.
If you don’t want to receive these updates I won’t be offended — feel free to unsubscribe at any time!
So… what’s going on?
June Highlights
Killdeer Trio made the rounds in the NYS capital region opening the historic Jazz on Jay 2024 concert series in Schenectady, and performing at a very cool new venue in downtown Troy — MoJo’s Cafe.
Local reporter Michael Hochanadel wrote a nice overview of the Jazz on Jay performance, which is available here.

My recently released solo guitar album is still available for purchase digitally on bandcamp, or physically on CD at all live performances. You can also listen to it on all major music streaming platforms, such as… you know.
Thanks to everyone who has purchased or listened to the album — it means a lot!
The Young Improvisers Collective Workshop — Year Two
I’m super excited to be offering my youth-focused music workshop the “Young Improvisers Collective” for the second year in a row at Foothills PAC in Oneonta NY! The Young Improvisers Collective is a 4 week class for musicians ages 13-18 to learn about musical improvisation in a hands on setting. We learn repertoire from a variety of genres (not just jazz) and explore how the skills we use as improvisers tie in to all aspects of musicianship. Each student that joins the collective offers their unique individual perspective, which helps guide the learning experience of the whole group.
Registration is still open until the first class on Wednesday July 10th, so if you know any eager young musicians, send them my way. The final concert on Thursday August 1st is also open to the public, so feel free to check that out as well.
Where am I playing next… good question!
