This Week: Franklin Stage Residency, and Workshop Concert
Franklin Stage Co. Residency (August 2-4)
This weekend I’ll be joining Yolanda Bush and the Cool Water Collective for a three day residency at the Franklin Stage Company. The band will feature Yolanda, myself, Tim Iverson, Evan Jagels, and Joe Damone. We’ll be performing a number of CWC standards with a couple special twists for this run of shows.
The Franklin Stage Company is a professional theater organization located in Franklin NY that curates an eclectic program of professional theater and music performances between June and August of each year. Given the limited programing each year, everyone in the band is really grateful for this special opportunity — come experience it with us!
Tickets are FREE to reserve, but a suggested donation is requested after each performance. If you are interested in attending, be sure to reserve seats as we are anticipating the likelihood of selling out.

Young Improvisers Collective Workshop Finale
Tomorrow (!) I’ll be concluding the second year of my workshop the “Young Improvisers Collective” with a final concert showcasing the students work over the past three weeks of class. It’s been such a great experience working with the students this year, and I’m honored to help present their work along with my co-instructor Sebastian Green.
I’ll be presenting a full retrospective in next month’s newsletter, so stay tuned for that. In the meantime, consider coming to our see our concert tomorrow (Thurs 8/1) 7pm in the Loft of Foothills PAC in Oneonta, and check out this concert preview I edited together…
July Highlights
July was a pretty busy month for me, full of performances, composing new music, and trying to stay cool during the heatwaves.
Jive Hive Live - Livestream
This past week I was invited to perform for a livestream show in Albany NY at a unique and interesting private venue — The Jive Hive — with a few different jazz groups from the NYS Capital Region.
I performed with both my trio (WAT, featuring Sebastian Green and Brad Monkell) and the Jeremy Gold Quartet/Quintet. The Thom Avella Trio played in between the two groups, which featured an excellent mix of originals and some choice covers. The livestream is now available in full on youtube, which I have conveniently linked here…
My trio starts at 2:30 in, and then I’m back in at 1:39:00. The rest of the music is also top notch, if you have time to listen!

Friday 8/16, 6-8pm — Wyatt Ambrose Solo at The Tasting Lab in Greenville NY. Background or listening music. Free Admission, purchase of food and/or drink required.
Sunday 8/18, 7pm — Killdeer Trio w/ vsg Chris Riffle at The Downstairs in Ithaca NY. $10 admission
Thursday 8/22, 7pm — Wyatt Ambrose, John Colonna, Sebastian Green, & Kenji Tokunaga at the Dunderberg Gallery in Gilbertsville NY. A one night only performance of original music in meeting of upstate NY and NYC musicians. Admission is $20 per adult, $15 per Senior, $10 per child.
Friday 8/29, 8pm — Killdeer Trio at Jazz on Main, Mt. Kisco NY. $20 per ticket
Saturday 8/31, 6-9pm — Jeremy Gold Quartet, Stella’s Pasta Bar, Schenectady NY
